Obama became the first African-American president of the United States of America today. Quite an achievement it is...
But I really wonder how Obama will dig the U.S. out of its huge problems. You've got the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the mortgage crisis and the failing economy, policies towards Iran, Korea, Russia and the Muslim world that need to be revisited, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and many other issues which are eating at the U.S. like a gang of termites.
Bush has made so many enemies within the last 8 years it's almost unbelievable. While I wish the best for the new administration, I feel as though recovery and repair are futile.
It was really amusing that even Fidel Castro watched the inauguration of Obama. Doesn't it make you feel as though U.S. media has made almost everything seem like American Idol?
My guess is that Obama will first address the mortgage crisis and the Gaza war as they are the most pressing issues at this time. But words mean little. Action means alot.
